Hello My Beautiful Friends,
For the moment, I am back in Hell's Kitchen catching my breath after
a very busy first month of supporting the new music. Everything is
going great. I'm so happy with the band and all of you who are coming
out to shows to make this such a beautiful time.
I signed on recently with a big tour called "Jump". It's a wonderful
experience. It's basically a huge dance convention with live music.
Some of the dancers on the tour include Katy Spreadbury, Mandy Moore,
Nick Lazzarini, Kim McSwain, Dee Caspary, and Eddie Morales. I am
absolutely Loving it. I'm so inspired by these dancers. Another great
thing about it is that I get to play the West Coast. All the dates are
posted on my page now at www.myspace.com/randallshreve. So go check
out all the new dates. Most places are getting at least one more solo
show nearby. Even if you can't make it to a show for some reason, I'd
Love to have coffee with as many of you as possible if time will
allow.
I found out a couple days ago that HM Magazine, which can be found on
the magazine racks of Barnes and Noble, Hastings, Borders and
everywhere else, will be featuring "The Entertainer" as their
January/Febuary "Pick of the Litter". I'm very happy about this
because this is a magazine that I have actually been reading for
years.
After the huge success of "The Entertainer" release party, the band
and I are returning to The Zipper Factory Theatre in New York City for
another show on January 15th, which we will be recording this time. I
hope that many of you will be able to make it out for this. It has
truly become home for us already and I want to share the experience
with all of you. So please mark it on your calendars if you will be
anywhere near the New York area on that Thursday.
From now till December 18th, when you order "The Entertainer", you'll
get "The Cure For Yesterday for free. Just go to www.randallshreve.com
and you'll see the special promotion ion the store page. I know... I'm
amazing for doing that! I'm definitely Santa Clause's favorite person
this year.
When you go to www.myspace.com/randallshreve, be sure to check out
the new live photos taken by Anthony Ranier of Memento Photography. He
always amazes me with his work. You can also see some short clips of
live performances posted on Youtube.com by fans at shows.
Well, it's been great talking to a lot of you and seeing some of you
at the shows. Please keep in touch. Thank you all so much for your
support and friendship.

For those of you who did not make it out to any of the shows on the release tour, I thought I'd tell you a little about it here.
The Zipper Theatre
On Tuesday, October 14th, we kicked off the tour with one of the most amazing shows I've ever been a part of so far. The Zipper Theatre release was so absolutely amazing. I wasn't sure what the turnout was going to be like considering it was a late Tuesday in New York City. It's hard enough to get a decent crowd on a weekend in New York. After a quick soundcheck, I spent a good amount of time in the dressing room clearing my head and my throat for the show. As it got closer to showtime, I began to hear quite a crowd gathering. At one point I walked over to the stage curtain to look, then changed my mind at the last minute knowing that I'd rather see them all for the first time when we all walk out.
As the lights dimmed and the guys took the stage, I began to really hear how many people had come out to celebrate this moment with me and the guys. It was seriously like a beautiful frozen moment to me as I looked into the crowd and across the stage and saw all the wonderful, beautiful people I have surrounded myself with. Then everything returned to real time when I got a nod from Tim Grace from behind a baby grand piano and we dove into our opening song, "Hollywood".
The set list continued as a perfect soundtrack for a perfect evening, and Joseph Sommers, our newly appointed manager had congratulated me with a bottle of Cabernet waiting for me at my mic stand.
October 14th Setlist:
Hollywood
Rape Of Conscience
Welcome To The Show
Dancing In The Rain
King of the Silver Screen
Déjà vu
Sideshows
30 Pieces
Beautiful
The Girl Who Saved The World
Vampires of Vaudeville
The Entertainer
Karma Girl
Personal highlights for me on this show were:
1. Seeing Andrew Thornton singing every word to the show and enjoying it as much as anyone on stage.
2. Walking to the piano to sing the sweetest, most gentle song of the night and hearing Tim tell me, "I loosened her up for you".
3. Leaving the stage after the set and receiving the most genuine, relentless encore that I've ever received. I generally hate encores because they feel so coaxed and insincere, but this was such a beautiful unexpected moment. Tim and I ended up returning to the stage and playing Bob Dylan's "I Shall Be Released".
pictures of this night can be viewed on my myspace page thanks to Anthony from Memento Photography.
October 15th - Columbus, OH
After realizing at about 3:00 a.m. that our vehicle for the trip would not be large enough for all of our gear, we ended up renting a vehicle that cost way too much money and stress. Then we travelled to Columbus, OH to play the most disgusting trashy venue I think I've ever played. It was called Bernie's Distillery and we all had to get tetnis shots after playing there. But it was worth it for the few friends we made that night.
October 17th - Fayetteville, AR
This was such a crazy busy day. Got up really early and sat waiting for my publicist to pick me up and take me to a radio interview. He never showed, so I found the phone number for the radio station and called in. Then we all went to Jones TV where we began recording a documentary with live performances in their Television studio. This was great because it felt like a scene from “That Thing You Do”. However, I sang so much that I was afraid I had thrown out my voice before the big show that night. So I spent the rest of the day relaxing my voice and preparing for the evening.
That night was another wonderful show. I was, again, shocked at the turnout. A lot of wonderful people came out to support and buy the new CD. We had to cut 2 songs out of the set because of the early closing time in Arkansas of 2 a.m. After that, we partied till the sun came up.
October 18th – Fayetteville, AR
Umm… more partying.
October 19th – Fayetteville, AR
Benjamin and I finished shooting the documentary on this day at a tattoo parlor where we both got new ink while simultaneously being interviewed. After the tattoos, we went to D’s on Dickson where Tim and I set up and played a stripped down set. This really turned out to be an amazing night. While we were playing our first song, I noticed Gavin DeGraw as he walked in. He sat listening intently, and after a few songs, ran over to me and handed me some money which I tried to refuse as I handed him a CD instead. He insisted on giving us some gas money to get back home and said that the music was incredible and amazing. So I took the money and thanked him. I later reached in my pocket later to figure out what we had made that night and realized that Gavin DeGraw had tipped us $100. What a guy.
October 20th
After an early interview at The X morning show, Tim and I rounded up the rest of the guys and headed North to St. Louis. By the time we got to St. Louis, I realized that all of this running without sleeping had finally kicked my ass. I was sick. In fact, I thought I was too sick to play the show. I felt terrible and it was getting worse. So I dealt with it the only way I knew how to… I took 8 Alkaseltzers and turned on “The Show Must Go On” by Queen. hahaha. This left me very dizzy, but I was able to play the entire show with the exception of a drastic change in the composition of “Hollywood”. I damn near rewrote that entire song on the fly that night. hahah. I’d like to thank Tim, Joshua, Gabe and NIc for persevering with me through those terrifying 2 minutes.
That about wrapped up the trip. We’re heading back through most of those cities again in late November and early December. Now we’re back in New York getting well and preparing for the next 6 months of touring. Can’t wait to see all of you out there.
I Love You All,
Randall

Everyone from Arkansas needs to come out to this. It's going to be the best night of your life so far. Okay... at least top 5 for those of you who have really done some crazy amazing shit!

Insomnia... Again!
Well, since I've left my day job to put all my energy into "The Entertainer" and my career in general, I have gone back to the inevitable schedule of sleepless nights. I don't mind it so much, but I feel like such a bum when people call at noon and I'm not up.
The CDs came in without a snag. Everything looks and sounds absolutely perfect. I am so happy with them. I had terrible dreams that caused me to wake up in a sweat-drenched state... You know... like those dreams that pregnant women always have that their baby is born with an extra appendage. Except in my dreams, my CDs came and the artwork looked like shit. I guess it's not really the same. Regardless, everything looks, sounds and IS amazing!
I can't wait for everyone to hear it. Don't forget to pre-order the CD. Help a brotha out. (I always say brother like that. I'm straight hood.)

It's exactly one month from the CD release and I'm finally seeing the fruit of all the hard work that I put into this record. Drew and I worked for nearly a year finishing this CD and now it's finally about to be in my hands and hopefully in about a million or 10 million others'.
The band and I went down to Arkansas for a trip that really didn't make much sense financially at first, but I am so glad we did it. We drove 20 hours there and played a show where we let everyone hear a lot of the new music. It went over shockingly well. We ended up playing 4 shows while we were in town. It was great to be on the road with the new band.
Now everything is gearing up for the last quarter of the year with big plans for the CD release parties in New York, Fayetteville, AR and Orlando. We're also getting ready for a tour in November. Very excited about that. It felt so good to be on the road playing every night to crowds that were so happy to hear something new. I Love New York and the people who come out to the shows on a regular basis are some of the best people I've met, but in general, New York is terrified to like anything fresh. I'm really shocked by this. I study crowds during the first couple songs of every show and if just one person in New York really likes the music, he or she is quickly followed by the people who liked it but were afraid to seem like they liked it. I really would have thought that New York would lead the way with what I'm doing now, but I'm not so sure about that now. Either way. It's been great playing so much lately and giving people a taste of the new music.
I hope you all like the new website. Did it myself. I was pretty happy with it. Oh... and If you're a web designer itching to finish reading this so that you can hurry to your email and compose an email to me about how I didn't do something right, I want you to stand up... walk over to the closest mirror... look at yourself in the mirror and say, "I am a douchebag". You may also choose to follow it up with, "Yep, I am indeed a big bag of douche". Then go for a jog outside to get your pasty skin a little sun. And as you jog, please keep saying to yourself, "Randall doesn't care what I think about his website".
Sorry about that. I went a little bonkers for a minute.
So, I hope to talk to all of you soon. Thank you so much to all of you who have pre-ordered the record. We're about to show the music industry what we meant when we said Indie.
Love To All Of You,
Randall
